Why not try the Kil-der-kin pub and restaurant less than 100 yards along the Royal Mile, it often features live music and is a good place to meet the locals. The café of the Queen’s Gallery is a great place to sit outside and take in the sights and sightseers and it is just across the street. If you are tired at the end of a long days site seeing you can relax in the apartment and play a Scottish themed game provided by the owner, or watch a DVD. The apartment is very easy to get to, it is one bus ride away from the airport (no 35 bus line), a short walk from the back exit of Waverley Station and there is a taxi rank just outside the door so there is no need to bring a car. The famous double decker hop on hop off tour buses also stop near to the apartment and make sightseeing as easy as it gets.
